Fashion Designer Reginald Matlaila’s Funeral Details Released. A week ago, we lost one of our most talented fashion designers. At the age of 43, Reginald Matlaila, passed away reportedly from kidney failure. He fell ill on Monday 23 October and left Johannesburg to go home to Mokopane, Polokwane.
Reggie as he was affectionately called made his mark in the early 2000s when RjKay was launched, making him and Paledi Segapo the talk of town in celebrity circles. The duo went separate ways two years later. He then started a new label, Reggiestar, while Segapo branched out from marketing to design and founded his Palse Homme label. The self-taught talent finessed his way to being one of the top designers in the country.
As a solo designer, Reggie has worked with some of the top celebrities and A-listers in South Africa. His brand, Reggistar, draped the likes of Katlego Danke, Chomie, Moneoa, Bontle Modiselle, Zikhona Sodlaka, Bokang Phelane, Zahara and, recently, Cici for the Basadi Women in Music awards.
Reggie who sadly died on Saturday the 29th of October will be laid to rest in Moshate village in Limpopo on Saturday, according a statement from his family.
