Applications Open For The SANZAF Bursary Programme 2020. The South African National Zakáh Fund, or SANZAF, is calling on qualified students to apply for its Bursary Programme for 2020.

Note that bursary coverage does not include school registration fees and must be shouldered by the bursary recipient.

Requirements

SANZAF is looking for potential bursars who meet the following requirements:

  • Students currently in matric
  • Students taking up tertiary education through the support of a family member or through self support in the last school year
  • Tertiary education students who were granted bursary support from SANZAF (bursary renewal)

Selection Process

  • The SANZAF Bursary Committee will go though the applications and shortlist potential candidates.
  • Schedule of interviews and venues will be sent via email by the respective regional SANZAF office
  • Candidates must be available on the date of the interview
  • Successful candidates will receive notification by way of a Confirmation of Pledge Letter

How To Apply

Applications must include the following documents in a SINGLE PDF format for uploading during the application process.

IMPORTANT: The PDF file must be named in this format:

YOUR SURNAME [space] Your name.pdf
for example: FAISAL Omar.pdf

Application forms and supporting documents may vary depending on the applicant’s city of residence.

For Western Cape applicants:

  • For students currently in matric
    • Copy of identity documents; foreign nationals will need to submit a copy of their study permit
    • Affidavit proving unemployment status of parents, spouse or guardian and/or proof of income or proof that any of the aforementioned are already deceased
    • Testimonial from Imaam or educational institution
    • Copy of 2nd term results
    • Letter of motivation
  • For tertiary institution students
    • Copy of identity documents; foreign nationals will need to submit a copy of their study permit
    • Affidavit proving unemployment status of parents, spouse or guardian and/or proof of income or proof that any of the aforementioned are already deceased (if applicable)
    • Testimonial from Imaam or educational institution
    • Copy of 2019 mid-year tertiary results
    • Letter of motivation
  • For current SANZAF bursars
    • Copy of 2019 mid-year results
    • Affidavit proving unemployment status of parents, spouse or guardian and/or proof of income or proof that any of the aforementioned are already deceased

Applicants from Durban, Gauteng, Pietermaritzburg, Ladysmith and Kimberley will need to contact the SANZAF field office in their area regarding the application process.

Closing Date

Western Cape – 31 October 2019

Port Elizabeth  – 15 October 2019

East London – 31 October 2019
