Position Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for its Panorama store in Cape Town. This permanent role involves providing pharmaceutical care, taking responsibility for patients’ medicine-related needs, and ensuring compliance with legal and professional standards. The position is suitable for entry-level candidates with the required qualifications.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
- Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations
- Experience with Unisolv, SAP, and E-Scripting
- Oncology experience
- Knowledge of drug and family planning, and complementary medicine
- Ability to speak a third language
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the sale, preparation, compounding, and distribution of Schedule 1 to 6 medicines under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Accurately read, interpret, and prepare prescriptions
- Capture and verify patient and prescription details on the system
- Advise patients on correct medicine usage and medical aid claims
- Maintain stock control, facilitate bi-annual stock takes, and report low or out-of-stock items
- Ensure all medications are checked and signed off by a pharmacist
- Support dispensary, self-medication, and front-shop operations
- Promote health by providing accurate information to patients

- Experience in Retail/FMCG

Special Conditions
- Must be registered with SAPC
- Willing to work retail hours
- Physically able to stand for extended periods
- South African citizen with valid driver’s license
- Clear credit and criminal record
