Position Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for its Panorama store in Cape Town. This permanent role involves providing pharmaceutical care, taking responsibility for patients’ medicine-related needs, and ensuring compliance with legal and professional standards. The position is suitable for entry-level candidates with the required qualifications.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations
  • Experience with Unisolv, SAP, and E-Scripting
  • Oncology experience
  • Knowledge of drug and family planning, and complementary medicine
  • Ability to speak a third language

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the sale, preparation, compounding, and distribution of Schedule 1 to 6 medicines under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Accurately read, interpret, and prepare prescriptions
  • Capture and verify patient and prescription details on the system
  • Advise patients on correct medicine usage and medical aid claims
  • Maintain stock control, facilitate bi-annual stock takes, and report low or out-of-stock items
  • Ensure all medications are checked and signed off by a pharmacist
  • Support dispensary, self-medication, and front-shop operations
  • Promote health by providing accurate information to patients

Advantageous:

  • Experience in Retail/FMCG

  • Knowledge of complementary medicine

Special Conditions

  • Must be registered with SAPC
  • Willing to work retail hours
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods
  • South African citizen with valid driver’s license
  • Clear credit and criminal record
