Who is Jt Mashego?
Smart, easy and out going guy, hail from Burgers fort, matriculated in 2004, started at UNISA 2007,dropped out for two years due to finances, now back again.
How old are you?
I am 24 years old.
How did you get in radio?
I applied through what I call personal application, I went straight to the Unisa radio’s station manager and asked him for a slot, kept reminding them through e-mail until they decided to put me on sports, and out grew myself from there.
What do you do to prepare for the show?
Our producer sends us the show’ schedule, research on them, communicate with my co-host hours before the morning of the show, mainly about thing we going to give a focus on.
How do you stay relevant to young people?
Get in touch with what they exactly love and prefer to listen to.
Do you see yourself doing commercial radio? If yes which radio station?
Yes. 5fm, I love 5fm man, I get inspiration from most of their DJ’s.
In terms of information how important should it be for you to share it on your show?
It is very important to give out the relevant information to our listeners, student need to know about those things that affect them academically and socially, on “the morning cruise” we provide.
Have you been misunderstood on your show? If yes how did you deal with that situation?
Not that I know of.

Garrett Cliff from 5FM.
Jt what’s like working with Nandisa?
Working with NANDISA is a very awesome feeling, she understands me well, she is very smart, she easy and flexible on AIR and off AIR, she is a good friend.
What has been your biggest challenge as a team?
We once on AIR and ran out of a topic to talk about, and having to do a show without the news, it really makes us look unprofessional.
What does it mean for you to be black young man in this country?
Being a young black man in this rainbow nation, for me basically means, working hard, Learning without limits and creating and leaving a legacy for this beautiful country’s yet to be born.
Do you think young people are active enough in the future of this country?
Yes, Youth is at work, we working hard to better this state and I’m positive that we doing a very good job, my president can back me on this one.
Has been on radio open other doors for you?
It definitely does, but as for now I’m still on a very big learning curve.
Any projects you’re involved with? If so tell us about it?
I’m an entrepreneur, me and my cousin have a clothes designing company called “BLAQ TOMATO”, it’s strictly clothes.
Your biggest achievement yet?
Being part of this great radio station.
If you were a President for one day what would you change?
I’ll cancel completely the e- toll system.
What do you think are challenges facing South African youth? And how can these challenges be addressed?
Unemployment and HIV,I could say the mass media can make s difference, this radio station can, your magazine can help also, it’s a matter of how the youth is approached.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Breakfast show at 5FM.
What do you do to relax?
Read and play my Guitar.
What is your dream car?
I don’t have a dream but I have a dream of owning a HARLEY DAVIDSON motorcycle
Do you prefer taxi, bus or train? And why?
Taxi, it’s fast.

Read more, learn more and change the world.
