Miss South Africa Qhawe Mazaleni Joins the Spring Day Fun By Getting Soaked Up

Miss South Africa Qhawe Mazaleni Joins the Spring Day Fun By Getting Soaked Up. On September 1st, many somewhat forgot it was Spring Day, and were caught off guard. One such is our reigning Miss South Africa Qhawekazi Mazaleni. On the day, she went to Alexandra’s Third Avenue Children’s Library to mark day one of National Book Week leading up to the International Day of Literacy. The kids decided to make Qhawe’s day even more memorable, by splashing her with buckets full of water.
“Day one of National Book Week leading up to the International Day of Literacy as proclaimed by @unesco! We kicked off our first day yesterday at Alexandra’s Third Avenue Children’s Library with a reading of our own local South African story: Yes Yanga by @refiloemoahloli
Building literacy in our country requires us to make reading engaging and meaningful for children, it makes the greatest difference. Reading a book centred around cricket followed by a quick game also helped cement the story in our minds
And of course, it was spring day so naturally I got soaked 😂
I’d love to know which local authors you recommend and what you’re reading this National Book Week!” Qhawe said.
