10 Interesting Facts About Skeem Saam’s Masilo Magoro (Charles Kunutu). Love him or hate him, Charles Kunutu is one entertaining character. He is played by the talented Masilo Magoro, who has been holding the role since 2013. Learn more about him from the 10 facts below;

1. Masilo Magoro grew in Lenyenye, Tzaneen. He lived with his two older brothers and mother who worked as nurse for Dr Mamphela Ramphele. The family then moved to Johannesburg and joined his father.

2. In the mid eighties, while studying at Thabo high school in Naledi, Soweto, he got involved with a political student body that also did cultural events. This is where he first tasted stage as a performer, playing a soldier of the old South African regime.

3. Magoro studied drama at Fuba Academy for three years and later a one year part time course with Market Theatre Lab. A highlight of his career was playing Sgt Spikiri in a stage play at a school drama festival where he got his first standing ovation.

4. The talented actor is best known for his role as Morena Lerole, the father of Baksteen (Innocent Masuku), in the SABC1 drama series Tshisa, in 2012.

5. In 2013 he had a major role in the second half of the second season of the SABC1 drama series Skeem Saam as Charles Kunutu. As Rachel’s uncle, his mission was to get revenge on the Maputla family.

6. Charles is also a tuck shop owner, known to be a very harsh and angry man. On the current storyline, he is trying by all means for his kids to remain at Aprendo, a very expensive private school.

7. Magoro’s most memorable achievement was his involvement as a story developer, crew member and performer in the movie Gomora Hustle.

8. His favourite music is South African gospel, and he co-founded a gospel group in Lenyenye called Barorisi ba Lentswe.

9. Magoro also loves stand up comedy. He specifically enjoys comedians Trevor Noah, Steve Harvey and David Kau.

10. In his leisure time he does a bit of reading, writing his own script, and watching movies with his wife Pat and their daughter.
