36 High School Students Suspended for Smoking Dagga Inside School Premises. On Thursday a video clip showing a large group of pupils in school uniform smoking dagga went viral. Some of the learners, who are a mix of boys and girls, can be seen posing for the video while others blow the smoke towards the camera. Some are dancing and acting kind of strange.
It has come to light that these are Leondale High School students, and they are doing this within the school premises. The video has caught the attention of many people, who are really concerned about our future generation. One of those who is not impressed by the learners’ acts is Mmusi Maimane, who questioned the capabilities of Minister of Education, Angie Motshekga. Maimane also said the minister should be let go immediately.
Addressing Leondale High School learners this morning, Panyasa Lesufi informed them that 36 learners have been suspended and currently await disciplinary action. The Gauteng MEC for Education and Youth Development also said they want to know the seller, distributor as well as those influencing students to do such. Further investigations are underway.
“The 36 Leondale High School learners captured on video smoking dagga within the school premises have been removed and suspended from the school. Their disciplinary hearing will be held on Monday,” Lesufi said.
