MultiChoice Supporting South Africa’s Youth ‘From Learning to Earning’

Through its ‘From Learning to Earning’ campaign, MultiChoice connected with learners at Tiisetsong Secondary School in Thokoza, Ekurhuleni, today. The platform connects Grade 12 learners to mentorship, career guidance, bursary support and exposure to the industries shaping South Africa’s broadcasting and content creation present – and future.
Big Brother Mzansi season 6 winner Liema Pantsi hosted the event, leading a group of MultiChoice speakers as they explained their roles and explored career opportunities with the school’s Grade 12 learners. The company’s Human Capital Business Partner, Grace Mathe; Legal Counsel, Ntsika Makelo; Senior Finance Manager, Taskeen Gangat and Head of Markets & Competition, Gomolemo Kekesi, shared how their roles help keep audiences across South Africa entertained, informed and inspired.

They were joined by Lebogang Diale, the co-founder and Executive Director of Gradesmatch and Commissioning Editor for scripted content at MultiChoice Group, Gcinashe Baruza, who shared their career journeys with the learners. Diale andBaruza’s input was particularly insightful for the learners – Gradesmatch is a beneficiary of the MultiChoice Innovation Fund (MIF), which provides selected SMMEs in the tech and content sectors with financial support, mentorship and business tools to help them scale – and Baruza is a graduate of the MultiChoice Group’s long-running, continent-wide television and film production training initiative, the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF). Liema also facilitated a fun, competitive Q&A and quiz with learners, who each received stationery goodie bags.
MultiChoice also bestowed two bursaries on Tiisetsong Secondary School to be awarded to two top students from the 2026 Grade 12 class, who wish to further their studies after completing Matric and meet the prescribed academic and eligibility criteria.
“This initiative serves as both an opportunity and a motivation for learners to strive for excellence. As a proudly South African company, we have always had a strong dedication to young people, given that some of them are the next generation of local storytellers,” explains MultiChoice CEO, Willington Ngwepe. “Achieving strong academic performance not only opens doors to opportunities such as these bursaries but also lays the foundation for future success.”
MultiChoice will continue to showcase opportunities directly to learners, where they are, showing them that the journey from the classroom to the workplace begins with access, guidance and belief, supported by education.
