NMISA is offering undergraduate bursaries at a recognised South African University.

Upon completion, the bursars will be required to work one year for every year sponsored at NMISA.

 

Successful graduates will follow an exciting career at NMISA in the Science of Accurate Measurement (Metrology).

NMISA is the custodian of the South Africa national measurement standards, thus you will be working closely with experts on the realisation of the International System (SI) units in the Electricity & Magnetism division.

Bursaries are offered in the following fields of study:

  • Engineering degree (Electrical, Electronic or Mecha-Electronics)
  • BSc Physics

Masters Studentship: Investigation, Development and Evaluation – CLICK HERE TO APPLY

To complete a Master’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch, within a two year period, based on the technical needs of the Length section at NMISA.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • BEng (Honours) (Mechatronic Engineering), or being in the final year of studies for the corresponding Honours degree.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of mechanical systems and principles, as well as related electronics.
  • Strong formal background in mathematics.
  • Knowledge of programming
  • MS Word and Excel

To investigate, develop and evaluate a noise measurement system to address the technical requirements of the DC Low Frequency and Radio Frequency section at NMISA.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • BSc/BEng Honours (Electronic Engineering, Electronics and Physics, or Electrical Engineering – light current), or being in the final year of studies for the corresponding Honours degree.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of radio engineering fundamentals and principles, as well as related electronics.
  • Strong formal background in mathematics.
  • Knowledge of programming – e.g., C/C++
  • MS Word and Excel

x2 Masters Studentship – Time and Frequency Project -CLICK HERE TO APPLY

An opportunity is available for a suitably qualified B.Eng (Electronic Engineering) graduate to complete a Master’s degree, within a 2 year period, based on the technical needs of the Time, Frequency, and Fibre Optics Section of the National Metrology Institute of South Africa.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

  • B.Eng (Electronic Engineering)
  • Sound mathematical and statistical knowledge
  • Ability to prepare scientific reports
  • Knowledge of digital control systems
  • Knowledge of fibre optic communication systems
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Word and Excel
