2. CSIR: Bursary / Scholarship 2016

Closing date: 15 June 2015

The CSIR hereby invites bursary applications from talented young people wishing to pursue careers in science, engineering, research, technology development and innovation.

The CSIR Undergraduate Bursary Programme is open to all academically qualified young people and aims to attract and increase the participation of women and black people in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers.

If you are a South African citizen successfully pursuing a degree in a STEM field at a South African university or a Grade 12 learner aiming to study for a degree in a STEM field in 2016, the CSIR bursary may just be for you.

This is a comprehensive bursary that covers all the costs associated with university studies for the duration of the approved degree programme.

Requirements

GRADE 12 LEARNERS

  •  A minimum of a Level 5 for English First Language or a Level 4 for English Second Language in Grade 11.

 UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

  • Must have passed all courses for the study period already completed.

4. Vodacom Engineering Bursaries

Closing Date: 30 June 2015

Applicants can apply for a Vodacom Foundation Bursary if they intend to gain a qualification in Engineering and Operations.

Fields of study:

  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering (Light Current only);
  • University of technology Diplomas and Degrees in similar areas of studyInformation Technology:
  • BSc Computer Science;
  • BSc Computer Engineering; or

Applicants need to meet the following requirements to apply for a Vodacom Foundation Bursary.

  • must be a South African citizen
  • must undertake full-time undergraduate studies in a South African tertiary institution
  • be a member of a family who’s total household income does not exceed R150 000 per year
  • must pass Grade 12 with exemption
  • must obtain a minimum “C” symbol in both Mathematics and Science Higher Grade
  • must be younger than 25 years
  • may apply if already in his/her first year of studies in an accredited South African tertiary institution and meet all criteria above

1. Application forms that are incomplete will be disregarded.

Please ensure that you attach proof of academic results: current matriculants do not need to provide preliminary results – final grade 11 will suffice.

2. Applications open 1 March and closes on 30 June annually for bursaries for the following year.

3. Bursaries will only be allocated for next year.

4. You must supply all the information requested, or explain why you cannot provide it.

5. Applicants applying for bursaries with less than a B symbol in mathematics and science will not be considered.

6. Do not send original documents, please attach copies.

7. A passport size photograph of the applicant must be attached to the top right-hand of the front page.

8. It is your responsibility to apply for entrance to university and for other options for financial support. We recommend that you apply to at least two universities and for many funding options/bursaries.

Primary Purpose BDO awards bursaries to students deserving of and studying towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification. Preference is given to well-rounded individuals who perform equally well in all areas of their lives.Bursaries are financial assistance given to students for further study for either degree, post graduate studies or both. Bursaries are awarded on a financial needs basis and are linked to satisfactory academic achievements with a solid academic track record at school and/or university.Students who are awarded a bursary are required to serve a training contract with the specific office who awarded the bursary on completion of their studies. Bursaries have conditions attached to them and once students have completed their studies, students will have to work for a period of three years.BDOS’s amount of money can be for that of a full bursary or that of a half bursary. Our bursaries do not cover all study expenses and only covers registration fees, tuition fees and books for each year of study. Students have to therefore be prepared to meet some of the costs.Applications are collected and processed throughout the course of the year, due to the number of applicants, applicants may only receive feedback towards the end of the year.

Be planning to study towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification (learners/scholars);
Commitment to study towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification with majors in accounting and auditing;
Be studying at a university which offers South African Institute of Chartered Accountants’ (SAICA) accredited programmes through to Honours / CTA level.
Competency Requirements To be considered for a Bursary, you will need to meet the following selection criteria:

Minimum “B” in Maths higher grade and minimum “B” in English higher grade either 1st or 2nd language; and an overall average of 70% or higher in the final grade 12 or equivalent results.University students:
