8 Foods to Avoid if you have Ulcers
So you have this funny feeling in the pit of your stomach and your doctor says you’ve developed stomach ulcers. This means your entire diet has to change as you now cannot eat anything and everything. Here’s a list of what not to eat:
Spicy foods:
Spicy foods are like to have set them off in the first place, if this is the case, cut them out completely. This may help may also help in providing relief to any discomfort and pain.
Tomatoes, citrus fruits and juices:
Avoid these because the acidity that they contain, this includes consonants. Consuming these may cause irritation to the ulcers. Instead drink apple or grape juice, again water would be better.
Coffee tea cocoa:
Cut out all caffeine including decaffeinated coffee. Instead dink a mild herbal tea and lots of water.
Fried and fatty foods:
Food that is high in saturated fats cause inflammation which may agitate the ulcers.
Acidic drinks and alcohol:
Beverages with acid, sodas and carbonated drinks should be cut off completely as they may make the ulcers worse
Aspirin
It’s all in the name, as much as it might help relieve a head ache, it could do worse to your ulcers.
Sausage, Salami, Bacon and Ham
These meats are high in fats and may cause discomfort and pain because they increase stomach acids. Instead eat lean meats such as fish, poultry and soy foods.
Dairy products
If you must use dairy products, use low-fat or fat-free products, avoid full fat options and do not use too large quantities.
By now I’m guess we get the drift. One needs to make a full diet change when living with ulcers. You can’t order anything from the menu when you eat out and you need to put more consideration into your grocery shopping list too. Lastly, avoid stress! this may not be a food choice but it contributes a lot towards the state of your health and your ulcers.
