Thuso Mbedu Considered For A Key Co-Lead Role In A Disney+ TV Series. Casting has begun for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and several actress are already in contention for one of the show’s most prominent supporting roles. Currently there are four new roles casting for the upcoming series, with one being listed as a co-lead to Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi. The role, referred to as Riley/Eve, will reportedly be a co-lead to the already confirmed McGregor.
Our very own, Thuso Mbedu is one of the actresses eyed for the role. Having starred on Is’thunzi, Scandal! Generations: The Legacy among others, the International Emmy Award nominee is one of the best actresses in the country. Thuso will soon star in Barry Jenkins’ limited series The Underground Railroad on Amazon Video.
Naomi Scott, who portrayed Princess Jasmine in Disney’s Aladdin remake, is also among the three actresses being eyed for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+. Anula Navlekar is a relative unknown who recently graduated from the Yale School of Drama. She is also a contender for the role.

Directed by Deborah Chow and starring Ewan McGregor, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is currently in development for Disney+ and has yet to receive a premiere date or official title. The series will begin production in the United Kingdom in March 2021.
