Applications Open For The SANZAF Bursary Programme 2020. The South African National Zakáh Fund, or SANZAF, is calling on qualified students to apply for its Bursary Programme for 2020.

Requirements

SANZAF is looking for potential bursars who meet the following requirements:

  • Students currently in matric
  • Students taking up tertiary education through the support of a family member or through self support in the last school year
  • Tertiary education students who were granted bursary support from SANZAF (bursary renewal)
  • Unemployed individuals because of lack of skill or invailability of work
  • Financial incapacity to acquire/sustain tertiary education
  • Experiencing debt problems beyond their control

Selection Process

  • The SANZAF Bursary Committee will go though the applications and shortlist potential candidates.
  • Schedule of interviews and venues will be sent via email by the respective regional SANZAF office
  • Candidates must be available on the date of the interview
  • Successful candidates will receive notification by way of a Confirmation of Pledge Letter

Note that selection criteria may vary depending on the location of the bursary provider.

How To Apply

The application process may differ depending the area of residence of the applicant. Please follow the application guidelines accordingly.

For Durban applicants:

Qualified applicants will need to register an account on the Central Bursary Welfare Forum, the bursary administrator in Durban. Click here to get started.

For Gauteng applicants, click here and make sure to review the terms and conditions of the bursary.

Applicants from Kimberley will need to create an online accounta as well in order to apply. Click here access the its recruitment portal.

Ladysmith applicants are also required to apply here.

Be sure to prepare the following documents before applying:

  • For students currently in matric
    • Copy of identity documents; foreign nationals will need to submit a copy of their study permit
    • Affidavit proving unemployment status of parents, spouse or guardian and/or proof of income or proof that any of the aforementioned are already deceased
    • Testimonial from Imaam or educational institution
    • Copy of 2nd term results
    • Letter of motivation
  • For tertiary institution students
    • Copy of identity documents; foreign nationals will need to submit a copy of their study permit
    • Affidavit proving unemployment status of parents, spouse or guardian and/or proof of income or proof that any of the aforementioned are already deceased (if applicable)
    • Testimonial from Imaam or educational institution
    • Copy of 2019 mid-year tertiary results
    • Letter of motivation
  • For current SANZAF bursars
    • Copy of 2019 mid-year results
    • Affidavit proving unemployment status of parents, spouse or guardian and/or proof of income or proof that any of the aforementioned are already deceased
