Applications Open For The Auditor-General SA Bursary Programme 2020. The AGSA offers bursary support to students pursuing or intending to pursue a Chartered Accountant qualification which includes Bachelor of Accounting, BCom Accounting and BCompt. Beneficiaries will enjoy coverage of the following expenses:

  • Tuition fees
  • Book fees
  • Accommodations
  • Meals

Upon completion of their studies, bursars are required to undergo training in AGSA.

Requirements

Only candidates who meet the following basic requirements will be considered:

  • Taking up or planning to take up a full-time Chartered Account qualification at a higher education institution recognized by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants
  • Matric students applying for first year of CA studies must
    • Acquire matric exemption from university entrance
    • Have a 60% grade average in English and Maths
  • First year students applying for second year studies must:
    • Have at least a 60% grade average in Financial Accounting
    • Have at least a 60% grade average in Maths and English while in matric
  • Second year students going on their third year will need to:
    • Obtain at least a 60% grade average in Financial Accounting
    • Achieve at least a 60% grade average in Management Accounting
  • Final year students
    • With 55% grade average in all CA programme core modules
    • Gain CTA programme admission
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English
  • A good team player with solid interpersonal skills
  • Possesses determination, commitment, and drive to excel and succeed
  • Has the potential to lead
  • A South African citizen

How To Apply

Qualified applicants will need to register an account on the AGSA’s recruitment portal. In addition, make sure to prepare the following supporting documents:

Matric students

  • Copy of South African ID
  • Year-end results from Grade 11
  • Mid-year results from Grade 12
  • Acceptance letter from SAICA-accredited university

First year students going on second year

  • Copy of South African ID
  • Matric results
  • Full academic transcript

Second year students going on third year

  • At least 60% grade average in Financial Accounting and Management Accounting
  • Copy of South African ID
  • Copy of full academic transcript

Final year students

  • CTA programme acceptance letter
  • Copy of South African ID
  • Full academic transcript
