Malibongwe Mdwaba Has Nothing But Gratitude As He Bids Farewell to Skeem Saam

Malibongwe Mdwaba Has Nothing But Gratitude As He Bids Farewell to Skeem Saam. It is always sad to see such a character leave a show. This is because Shongwe AKA Mr Xulu, gave viewers nothing but pure entertainment. In his own way, he contributed to the captivating storyline of Skeem Saam.

The man behind the character is the talented Malibongwe Mdwaba. The Khayelitsha born star joined Skeem Saam, back in January 2025, as Shongwe. He was one of the prisoners where Lehasa Maposa was detained. Recently Shongwe came back, but using the stolen identity of Mr Xulu. He was hired by Turf High, and as time went on his secret was out in the open.

Season 14 marks my second season on @skeemsaam13 and what a journey it has been. Five months of crafting this arc has felt like a lifetime as I discovered self.

I want to start by giving thanks to the production team, directors and crew. You all have created a space that felt safe. A space where the energy allowed the work to go where it needed to go. It was a space that was generous and deeply conducive to the kind of work I have always longed to do. Ndiyabulela,”
Mdwaba said in gratitude.

He is truly grateful for the role as it challenged him in many ways. “This arc and storyline gave me exactly that. It stretched me !! it asked more of me and it trusted me to meet it there. That in itself is an answered prayer. So to the writers, the producers and the broadcaster, thank you for trusting me with something so full and so demanding. I do not take that lightly,” he added.

Mdwaba also thanked his colleagues for being team players. He appreciates their level of awareness, listening skills and attentiveness. He did not forget Skeem Saam viewers who have been at the center of it all. Their messages, reactions and love have played a very important role in his career. In conclusion, Mdwaba has promised to be back soon as an actor.
