“It Took Me 13 Months to Prepare for This Role,” Brenda Ngxoli On Playing Brenda Fassie. It’s always a challenge to play a loved legend in a documentary. No matter how talented you are, there are always people out there who feel the role should have been given to another actor.

Having noted that, it seems as if Brenda Ngxoli is cruising nicely on her new role playing Brenda Fassie documentary Vulindlela. The SABC1 takes viewers into the late legendary musician’s extraordinary rise from obscurity to South African music royalty. After hitting rock bottom, Brenda was written off by the industry, and there was no hope for her. Miraculously, she defied expectations and reinvented herself through the iconic album Vulindlela.

The lead of role is played by Brenda, and so far so good. Many are happy with the casting, which is all about talent, playing another talent. As much as she is naturally talented, Brenda put in the work for the role. She states that she took 13 months to prepare, which entailed working out and dieting. The multi-award winning actress also took up dance and movement classes as well as voice coaching. All of this has paid well, as Brenda shines with her role.
