Job Overview

The Foam Upper is responsible for preparing furniture frames by applying foam, batting and padding before the upholstery process begins. The role involves accurately cutting and shaping foam, securing materials using the correct adhesives and ensuring each furniture piece achieves the required comfort, shape and finish. You will work closely with upholsterers and other production team members to maintain smooth workflow and consistent product quality. Success in this role requires accuracy, efficiency and a strong commitment to maintaining manufacturing standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply foam, batting and padding to furniture frames according to specifications
• Cut and shape foam accurately for different furniture components
• Use adhesives and production tools correctly to secure foam in place
• Build up foam layers to achieve the required comfort, shape and finish
• Inspect furniture frames before the foaming process begins
• Work closely with upholsterers to ensure smooth production flow
• Maintain consistent product quality across all furniture units
• Minimise material waste during production
• Report damaged materials or production discrepancies
• Keep the work area clean, organised and safe
• Follow company quality standards and production procedures
• Contribute to achieving daily production targets

Requirements and Skills

• Experience in upholstery or foam-up operations is preferred
