Vacancy: Survey Assistant Opportunity at Transnet Properties

Transnet Properties has a permanent position for a Survey Assistant in Port Elizabeth to assist the land surveyor/technical surveyor/survey technician/engineering technician with survey related field duties during cadastral, engineering, topographical, monitor, control, field data capture & project related surveys.

Position outputs :
Execute actions pertaining to the Geo-Spatial Office; Assisting with the relevant survey related field duties such as:

Loading & unloading of equipment and vehicles;
Driving of vehicles where required;
Setting up of equipment;
Line clearing & bush cutting;
Digging and searching for beacons;
Placing of beacons, building of control points etc;
Any other relevant task which may be required in the field;
Assisting with the relevant survey related field duties such as:

Basic maintenance and cleaning of survey equipment & vehicles; ;
Assisting with RAVE field work;
Assisting with inventory of equipment & reporting of faulty/missing equipment;
Cleaning and organising equipment storage rooms and facilities;
Basic filing of documents;
Basic computer related data entry;
Large format scanning of plans and collation of printed plans;
Office errands and other minor tasks when required.

Qualifications & Experience:
Unless the applicant can demonstrate that he/she has gained the necessary competencies through experience, Grade 12 qualification, physically healthy, fit and able to undertake field work under various conditions;
Able to work away from home for extended periods;
A valid code 08 driver’s license

Competencies:
Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
Basic computer literacy will be an advantage;
Basic operation of survey equipment.
