Gugu Gumede On How Doing the Gastric Sleeve Surgery Has Impacted Her Life 2 Years On. It has been two years since Gugu Gumede plucked up the courage to do a gastric sleeve surgery. This is a procedure where a large portion of one’s stomach is removed, leaving behind a narrow “sleeve.” By doing so, it helps restrict calories and reduce hunger signals. This surgery is offered to help people with clinically severe obesity achieve effective weight loss.
Gugu has always been open about her gastric sleeve surgery, and the results that she gets to enjoy. The talented actress and Icebolethu ambassador did her surgery on the 29th of January 2024, and lost a whooping 30kg in just two months after the procedure. In the same year, Gugu attended the South African Film and TV Awards, where she showed off her stunning figure. She repeated a beautiful dress that she wore at some other event 10 months prior.
Over and over she continues to show off the amazing results of her procedure. Of course there are those who applaud her, and those who prefer the old Gugu. The most important thing though is how she feels. She has just taken to social media celebrating two years post her gastric sleeve surgery. Gugu is proud of herself, more so since she is in a better health state,and can be more present for her daughter.
