“I Would Believe Her,”Cyril Ramaphosa On Khwezi’s Alleged Rape By President Jacob Zuma. In a surprising twist of events, deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa said he believes the late Khwezi, was raped by President Jacob Zuma.
Ramaphosa was speaking on Radio 702 about the difficulty of a black woman to stand up against abuse. Although he said that he respects South Africa’s court processes, his empathy to Khwezi made him believe her story. “Yes, I would believe her,” Ramaphosa said. This was after he elaborated on how difficult it is for women to come forward with allegations of sexual violence.
Aids activist Fezekile Ntsukela Kuzwayo accused President Jacob Zuma of rape in 2005. President Jacob Zuma was acquitted of the charge in May 2006. It is not yet clear what led to the death of Khwezi but she was reportedly diagnosed with HIV/Aids in 1990.
