BOILERMAKER – MANUFACTURE – DELMAS / AA POSITION

Introduction : BOILERMAKER (preferably from the mining sector) involved with the manufacture, fabrication and assembling of heavy mining and industrial plant & equipment – experienced in feeders, mills, screens, crushers. Position based in Delmas. NB – NOT pipe fitters. NB – SA Citizens only.

Minimum requirements :

• Valid Section 13 Boilermaker Trade Test Certificate.
• Section 28 Optional.
• At least 5 years in a relevant engineering / mining environment.
• Sound knowledge of mechanical engineering technology processes and application of those skills required within the industry.

Experience required :

• Fabrication environment ie. Fabrication workshops
• Experience on mining equipment such as screens and equipment, feeder breakers, crushing equipment, rakes, shells, mills.
• 3 Working Years experience in the mining industry.

Role purpose :

Perform mechanical engineering tasks by applying technology, processes and skills in line with business requirements.- The incumbent must be able to apply a variety of assembly methods and techniques through maintaining basic mechanical equipment and assemblies.-The incumbent must be able to demonstrate good communication skills applicable to the workplace.

Key responsibilities :

• Apply safety, health and environmental principles and procedures in a workplace.
• Apply quality procedures.

• Align a steel structure using a dumpy level.
• Mark off and fabricate sections using the contour marker method.
• Fabricate components by means of the parallel line method.
• Fabricate components by means of the radial line method.
• Fabricate components by means of the triangulation method.
• Form and shape sheet, plate, pipe and structural section using power machinery.
• Mechanically cut, drill, punch and assemble fabrication materials using powered machinery.
• Complete commissioning reports.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the use of different number bases and measurement units and an awareness of error in the context of relevant calculations.
• Describe, apply, analyse and calculate shape and motion in 2- and 3-dimensional space in different contexts.
• Use mathematics to investigate and monitor the financial aspects of personal, business and national issues.
• Assemble work pieces in jigs (minor amendments include the use of manipulators.
• Cut mild steel by means of an Oxy-acetylene profile cutter.
• Operate a hand-controlled overhead crane.
• Operate defined purpose lift trucks.
• Shift loads using lifting equipment.
• Sling loads.
• Assemble and mechanically join sheet, plate, tube, pipe and steel sections.
• Lay out and mark off regular and irregular shapes for thermoplastic fabrication.
• Lay out and fabricate a metal structure.
• Lift and move a load using mechanical lifting equipment.
