“What A Privilege,” Botlhale Boikanyo On Using Her Voice As A Poet to Serve Others. Although she has done many other things in the entertainment industry, Botlhale Boikanyo will always be remembered as a poet. She constantly gets booked at major events, where she gets to show her amazing poetry skills.
Botlhale made history when she won SA’s Got Talent back in 2012. At the tender age of thirteen the poet and actress performed her poems at the Legacy of Hope Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital campaign inauguration in New York. Her request and performance was linked with International Mandela Day. As an honorary committee member, Botlhale joined personalities like Maya Angelou, Whoopi Goldberg, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Charlize Theron. Her message led her to the recording of Africa my Pride, which was turned into music by Malambule from Native Rhythms Productions.
On the 25th of May when the continent commemorated Africa Day, Botlhale prepared a poem that is mostly about the beauty that is Africa. She highlighted Africa’s rich history, and some of the amazing places that the continent boasts. She also spoke about the outstanding qualities that many Africans have, which makes the continent one of the best. Botlhale did not forget the wildlife, something that Africa pride itself for.
“Your voice matters.
Every time I step onto a stage I’m filled with so much gratitude🥺🤍
There was once a little girl who simply loved words. Today those same words have carried me into rooms, communities, and conversations I never imagined
What a privilege it is to use my voice in service of something bigger than myself
And if you’re reading this, let this be your reminder: your voice matters too🤍🎙️,” Botlhale said.
