Lira’s First Interview After Stroke Touches Many. Relebogile Mabotja was recently joined by Lerato Molapo, popularly known as Lira, in her first media interview after suffering a stroke in April 2022. The multi-award winning songstress suffered a stroke while she was in Germany for a performance.

After the news broke, so many of her fans as well as industry peers took to social media to wish her recovery. Their prayers together with the medical attention Lira received worked wonders. Following the stroke, Lira was diagnosed with aphasia, a disorder that affects how you communicate and which can impact speech and comprehension. Her ability to communicate, in particular, her speech, was impacted. This was worrying, more so since she uses her vocals to be the superstar that she is.

Lira has always updated on social media regarding how she was doing. The greatest improvement being the ability of regaining her reading and writing skills. One thing that Lira was yet to do though, was take an interview. Everything has its time, and Lira’s time to have an interview has finally arrived.

She recently had a sit down with 702‘s radio host Relebogile and opened up about her stroke. One can tell from her voice, how the stroke affected her speech. Being the positive person that she is, Lira stated that she is excited with how much progress she is making.

I’m very excited, because I can speak, and I can speak well!”,she said.

Through speaking out, Lira touched the hearts of many. A lot of listeners were inspired by her progress as well as her positive outlook.
