Viewers Call for uMakhelwane Presenter to be Replaced. Moja Love always comes through with relevant shows that tackle society issues, more so in the black communities. Shows like Rea Tsotella, Uthando Noxolo, X-Repo, Kukithi La, You, No Excuse. Pay Papgeld, Promised to Marry Me, and many others are there to assist those who have not been treated well by others or the system.
There is another new show, which is taking the channel by storm. The show is uMakhelwane, and the presenter has to solve bitter and sometimes violent conflicts between neighbors. As fights between neighbors are pretty common, many looked forward to how the presenter will solve issues of this sort.
Soso Rungqu was unveiled as the host of the show, which premiered on the 12 June 2022. Talking about her audition prior to bagging the gig, the talented actress said it was the toughest of her career. The executive producer also told her that the show is going to be challenging, as well as demanding because they are dealing with different people, different communities all over the country.
“I was told I would need to audition for the pilot. And it was a different kind of audition – you don’t do it in front of the camera with another guy reading (the other role) for you. It’s a reality show, so how they normally audition is they put you out there in the street and give you an episode to do and see how you are going to do that,” Soso said.
Soso did so well that her audition was used as an episode. But as much as she won hearts of the producers, viewers of uMakhelwane are singing a different tune.
