The more you nail your character, the more people associate you with the evil it does. A lot of actors have had to deal with agree public members who can’t detach them from the characters they play on TV.
One actress who has played a number of villain roles is Khabonina Qubeka. We still remember her back then as Doobsie on Muvhango, when she used to terrorize Thandaza. Even when she played Nina Zamdela on Isidingo, she was no angel. Khabonina is so good that when she plays these roles, you will believe that, that’s how she is in real life.
At the moment, the talented actress plays Oby Abudu on Generations: The Legacy. Oby is a diplomat named who is charming, mysterious and eloquent. She is married to Kumkani Phakade, who is her 3rd husband. Oby though has some dark world powers, ad uses them to hurt others. Some of her victims have been Ayanda and Tshidi.
As her witchcraft escalate every episode, people are starting to despise her. Some viewers feel that the scenes are just too much, and they promote evil. But for Khabonina, this is a job, and she is grateful to be playing such a mysterious and challenging role. She recently took to Twitter to state that she loves the way viewers hate Oby. After every scene with Oby, Khabonina says she laughs so hard.
