The former Miss South Africa and award winning actress passed away on the 20th of April 2026. The news was broken by her daughter, Nonhle, a media personality and actress. Three months since her passing tributes have been pouring in for the legendary personality. Among the tributes that touched many is that of Sindi Dlathu, who starred alongside Mam Cynthia in Muvhango. The two played mother and daughter, with Sindi being cast as Thandaza Mukwevho.
Today, would have been Mama Shange’s birthday, and Nonhle took it upon herself to still make the day special. She posted a throwback picture of her mother,and gave it a beautiful caption. Nonhle regards 777 as the number of completion, as her mom turned 77 of the 27th of the 7th month of the year. She also added that her Mama Shange’s legacy will forever live on, and that she will always be remembered.
