South African Born Tharina Botes Crowned Miss Universe Thailand 2026. South Africans not only make waves locally, they also shine internationally. One such is Tharina Botes, who recently scooped the Miss Universe Thailand 2026 crown. The beauty queen was born here to a South Africa father and a Thai mother.
No DNA Just RSA
The 29-year-old Roodepoort native was crowned Miss Universe Thailand 2026 on Sunday, 23 August, at the MGI Hall in Bangkok. Tharina beat 76 other candidates to claim the diamond crown, cash prize, and a spot representing Thailand on the global stage.
Pageantry History
Tharina first made waves as a Top 12 finalist in Miss South Africa 2018, at the age of 21. The pageant, which included finalists like Bryoni Govender and Margo Fargo, was won by Tamaryn Green. Moving abroad in 2019, she built an impressive Thai CV, winning Miss Thailand World 2023. She also finished as first runner-up at Miss Universe Thailand 2021.
For her Miss Universe Thailand journey, Tharina initially represented Ubon Ratchathani before being crowned Miss Universe Bangkok in June.She triumphed nationally after battling a swollen, bleeding foot during grueling preparation. After her win Tharina encouraged others to not give up on their dreams as they are valid.
