“He’s Irreplaceable,” Sizwe Dhlomo On Sol Phenduka. It has been two weeks now since Kaya 959 listeners heard breakfast show co-host, Sol Phenduka’s voice on radio. The media personality was placed on suspension with immediate effect, on 20 August 2025. This step was taken pending the outcome of an internal process that was under way.

On Monday 1st of September, the radio station announced that Sol was unfortunately fired. In a statement released by the broadcaster, Acting Managing Executive Dave Tiltmann confirmed that the decision was made after an internal review of Phenduka’s recent public conduct. His comments about media personality Minnnie Dlamini on Podcast and Chill With MacG, is what got him in trouble with his now former employer.

“Kaya 959 cannot and will not condone comments made on the MacG Vodcast, where Sol Phenduka is an integral part of the presenting team. Misogynistic remarks made about actress Minnie Dlamini were unacceptable and inconsistent with respect owed to women,” Tiltmann said.

Since his departure, listeners have been stating how much they miss him. They feel the show, that he hosted alongside Sizwe Dhlomo, is no longer the same. Listeners loved the bromance of the hosts, and how they tackled issues. It goes without saying that Sizwe and Sol, also miss working together.

One listener took to X, asking Sizwe who is going to replace Sol, now that he is gone. In response, Sizwe said, no one, adding that Sol is irreplaceable.

“No one. He is irreplaceable,” Sizwe said.
