Social Media Reacts to the Liquidation of Drip Footwear
Social Media Reacts to the Liquidation of Drip Footwear. Over the past years, Drip Footwear has gone through some highs and lows. Regardless, it remains one of the biggest brands owned by a young black person.
A few months back the celebrated local shoe brand celebrated a milestone of 5 years of existence. In August, the founder, Lekau Sehoana was invited by the University of Johannesburg’s Vice Chancellor Prof Letlhokwa Mpedi and Dr Ndivhuwo Luruli, on a programme called Venture Mentoring Services (VMS). The purpose of the VMS Programme at UJ is to provide mentorship to aspiring entrepreneurs whose goal is to create and grow sustainable for-profit and non-profit ventures.
Sehoana has worked really hard on those dreams, to become one of SA’s most affluent businessmen. The business became a multi-million rand operation, with personalities such as DJ Sbu, Cassper Nyovest, Anele Mdoda and Clement Maosa as major clients. In such a short space of time, Sehoana managed to hire over a lot of people with more than 20 stores across the country. He has also bagged many awards and reached major milestones with DRIP.
As a businessman, Sehoana also faced failures here and there. Some of his stores closed over the years, due to financial crisis. He also had to Liquidate Kiddies Stores because the business didn’t work out. Sadly, Drip has just informed its employees of its unfortunately liquidation. Their employment contracts have been terminated with immediate effect, and outlets have been closed down.
