After Failing to Bag A Major Scholarship Years Back Candice Modiselle Is Now A Host and Mentor With the Same Organization. Indeed patience is not simply the ability to wait, but how we behave while we’re waiting. This saying resonates very well with those trying to penetrate the entertainment industry. Just like Candice Modiselle, one has to have a positive attitude, while waiting for that big break.

Candice is an actress, storyteller, host and social entrepreneur. She is the executive producer and host of The Five Minute Call Show on YouTube and is the founder and chief executive of Sellé Jewellery. She uses the The Five Minute Call Show to create a space for emerging creatives that encourages growth and transparency in the entertainment industry. This is done through guest interviews and educational episodes and promotes an attitude of diligence, discipline and respect in an industry that’s often overlooked and undervalued.

Her career as an actress includes being part of the leading cast of the first African Disney Plus Anthology, Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire, an animated science fiction anthology that draws on the continent’s histories and cultures. She also worked on Generations and acted in Netflix’s Jiva.

Candice’s career milestones as a presenter include hosting the first Forbes 30 under 30. She went on to host the 2022 South African Craft Awards, the 2022 Feather Awards and the South African Film and Television Awards. As an entrepreneur she was a recipient of the Panache Woman of Wonder Awards.

Things have not always bee great though. Just like any other entertainer, Candice has experienced drought with gigs. There are times he is just home, with nothing to do. Even when sh started off, Candice had some disappointments. She recalls over a decade ago, when she she failed to get a scholarship with Arts & Culture Trust. Now she is back with the same organization as mentor and host.

Lord, I am in awe of you!🙌🏽🙌🏽 We truly do serve a God that finishes a work He begins in us.
How far you have brought me. 11 years ago in my matric year (yup, my age is showing 😄) I stood before an audience as an @actorgza finalist, competing for a scholarship to advance my studies in the arts. I didn’t win, sadly, but gained so much more than anticipated. Priceless insights learnt but even better, my first agent who I’m still with to this day.

11 years later, I returned as a host and mentor. And what an emotional experience it was. I’m so proud of each and every one of these sensational storytellers
