Top 5 Local Films To Look Forward To. There is no doubt that South Africa has talent. There are a few films to look forward to this year. Film makers and actors such as Jafta Mamabolo and Kagiso Modupe have come up with their own films. Check out out top 5, and be ready to go and support local.

1. Losing Lerato

A beautifully told South African action/thriller about a father who puts himself in harms way to fight for his right to see his child. He takes matters into his own hands by kidnapping his daughter after life, the law, and the woman he once loved separates him from his child. His actions put him on a collision course with that law, and he finds himself in a high-stakes hostage situation.

2. Freedom

Talented actor Jafta Mamabolo adds another role to his filmography with his directional debut Freedom The Movie which he wrote and co-directs. The movie was showing at the Silwerskerm Fees Film Festival in Cape Town. Starring himself and Samkelo Ndlovu to name a few.

3. Uncovered

Uncovered is the story of a fearless female journalist who takes on a corrupt mine magnate. The film also touches on the issue of land. Uncovered features actors such as Thandeka Nodada née Malinga, Nqobile Khumalo, Sthandiwe Kgoroge, Dumisani Mbebe, Sorisha Naidoo and Fezile Makhanya.

4. Teacher Wanted

“Teacher Wanted” is the inspirational story of a teacher who fights to win over the unruly students in a struggling township school. It stars Themba Ntuli as a teacher who, like the actor himself, was born with a hormone deficiency that stunted his growth, giving him the appearance of a 12-year-old boy.

5. Salvation

Heavyweights like Vatiswa Ndara, Vinette Ebrahim and Nandi Nyembe star in this up-coming film. Salvation is Carmen Sangion’s debut feature film and it is produced by Kim Sangio
