Twitter Not Happy that Sibongile Mani Gets Jailed For Spending R800k of R14m Deposited Into Her Account By NSFAS. On the 1st of June 2017, Sibongile Mani became an instant millionaire when a whooping payment of R14m was accidentally deposited into her account by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

The Walter Sisulu University (WSU) student was only entitled to a R1 400 food allowance but R14 million was accidentally credited to her account. Sibongile took this as her lucky day and instead of reporting the error, she embarked on a spending spree blowing off R818 000. She then made headlines with a lot of people sharing their different views on how Sibongile handled the matter.

After being in and out of court, Sibongile was found guilty of stealing the money. Many thought that she was just going to get a suspended sentence or community service, but she got sentenced to five years imprisonment. After serving one third of the five-year sentence, Sibongile will be eligible for parole and could finish the rest of the five years under correctional supervision.

The sentence has angered a lot of people who find it harsh. Taking to social media to air their disappointment, they cited that so many people like politicians always get away with the worst criminal deeds. Some used Natasha Thahane as an example saying that no proper channel was followed when the talented actress was funded to study in the US. But since Sibongile is a nobody, she gets to do time.
