Bonnie Mbuli Makes a Return to the Small Screen With a New Role. Talk about a much loved show coming back with an even better cast. A few months ago, Pathu Makwarele of Tshedza Films, announced that season II of The Republic was upon us. The renowned award winning producer, said we should brace ourselves for another season come 2022.
While we are still overjoyed for such great news, we got to be surprised with some new additions to the team. Among those who have just joined The Republic is Bonnie Mbuli. The award winning actress and author will star alongside celebrated talent like SAFTA winner Bongile Mantsai, iconic Isibaya star Thembi Nyandeni, Tsholo Mashishi and Chichi Letswalo.
The storyline on the Mzansi Magic thriller, follows President Mulaudzi, a role played by award winning veteran actress, Florence Masebe. She became South Africa’s first democratically elected woman president, and has a quest to fight corruption and fulfill the promises she has made to her people. Madam President Mulaudzi spent two years fighting corruption and prosecuting those who benefited from former resident Hendrick Mbuli’s presidency, including Mbuli himself. The drama was a thrilling political showdown and a story of political smarts and survival.
With the some new talented cast members, we can’t wait to see what season II has in store for us.
