Applications Open for the Market Theatre Foundation YES Internships 2022 / 2023. Market Theatre Foundation invites unemployed South African graduates to apply for Internship Programme 2022 / 2023.

The Market Theatre Foundation in partnership with Yes4Youth have the opportunity to offer 16 currently unemployed young people from previously disadvantaged communities the opportunity to rejoin the workforce through a sponsored internship programme. The successful applicants will have a 12 month fixed contract at R5000 per month.

Stage Manager Intern

Ref: 2022/11/STM

  • Degree/Diploma in:Performing Arts, relevant Theatre Qualifications
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team of people in a very stressful environment
  • Able to work under pressure

Receptionist Intern

Ref: 2022/11/RT

  • Diploma in: Office Admin or equivalent Knowledge of Administrative and clerical procedures
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software application
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • People and communication skills
  • Ability to operate a switchboard

Sound Technician

Intern Ref: 2022/11/ST

  • Degree/Diploma in: Sound Technology/Engineering, Performing arts
  • This position will suit a sound engineering graduate or a person with previous sound experience.
  • Programming cues with a mixing console for a shows or events.
  • Operating analogue or digital mixing consoles for shows and events.

Box Office Admin Intern

Social Media Intern

  • Degree/Diploma in: Marketing, Brand Communications, Media studies.
  • Basic knowledge of campaign management from conceptualization to execution
  • Awareness of the nature and role of theatre and entertainment industries.
  • Hands on experience with social media monitoring
  • Ability to interpret social media traffic, impressions, target and audience
  • Knowledge of online marketing

Library Assistant Intern

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate
  • Helping students and colleagues locate books.
  • Checking books in and out at the front desk.
  • Sorting and shelving books according to their categorization.
  • Maintaining records of books taken out and books brought back.
  • Cataloging new arrivals.

Marketing Assistant Intern

  • A Marketing Degree or equivalent qualification is essential for this internship

Research and Archiving Intern

  • Tertiary qualification in: Humanities (qualification in Photography, Visual and Heritage archives will be advantageous)
  • Computer skills (Mac and PC, Excel and Word, E-mail
  • Be driven and passionate about photography and the importance of archives for South Africa’s future \Be able to work under pressure, unsupervised and show strong initiative
  • Show a critical awareness of the nature and role of photography, archives in general, and of the education and development landscape for African practitioners

Technician Intern

  • A National Diploma /Degree in: Lighting or relevant qualification
  • Operating lighting desks and cues during technical get in and performances and efficiently operating effects equipment as per SM cues.
  • Read and interpret light plots, cue sheets, and other technical documents
  • Assist in the load – in and load – out of lighting in the theatre venue
  • Applying technical knowledge of lighting to achieve the determined artistic objectives.
  • Repairing or replacing light bulbs or tubes in light fixtures, or replacing entire light fixture when needed

Technical Assistant Intern

  • Maintains all department equipment and ensure they conform to all maintenance and service procedures and are in good working order
  • Programming cues with a mixing console for shows or events
  • Knowledge of sound/lighting

Supply Chain Management Intern

  • National Diploma/Degree in: Supply Chain Management
  • Acquire quotations in compliance with guidelines stated in the procurement policy
  • Facilitate gathering and return of quotations to project managers to allow assessment of responses and finalize the selection of service providers
  • Keep track of control documentation, business procedures and processes in relation to supplier requirements and applications

Maintenance Intern

  • Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems
  • Basic math skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Health & Safety experience will be advantageous.

Human Resources Intern

  • National Diploma/Degree in: Human Resource Management or any relevant qualification
  • Basic knowledge of South African labor laws
  • Accountable and able to handle confidential matters
  • Organized and attention to detail

Producing Administrator Intern

Ref:2022/11/PA

  • National Diploma/Degree in: Office Administration or equivalent or Arts related qualification
  • Applicants will assist Producer and Assistant Producer with the administration of quotations and contracts
  • Computer literate
  • Basic accounting, communication, and project management skills
  • Assist Production department with the drafting and maintenance of schedules

Media Intern

REF:2022/11/MDI

  • Relevant qualification – in Media or Marketing.
  • Knowledge and skill on Adobe Suite
  • Consolidation of material for publications, brochures, post cards etc while ensuring high standards.
  • Design media materials according to MPW corporate identity and templates as needed.
  • Maintenance of templates and media image archives.
  • Follow project plans pertaining to media and publicity including logistical design and time frames.
  • Deal with administrative matters, such as quoting

Applicant Requirements:

  • Must be 21 -35 years old
  • Applicants need to register on the Yes4Youth website )
  • Proof of Yes4Youth registration – Screen shot will suffice
  • Knowledge of or an interest in the creative arts would be an advantage but is not a requirement.
  • Prior to commencing the programme, you will need a Certificated copy of ID and Affidavit stating that you are currently unemployed
