Kabelo Mabalane Clocks 24 Years of Sobriety

Kabelo Mabalane Clocks 24 Years of Sobriety. Congratulations are in order to Kabelo Mabalane who is now in his 24th year all clean and sober. The award winning Kwaito artist, author and Pastor has always been open about his journey as an addict, up until he cleaned up his act. Now Kabelo is here, over two decades later, inspiring the masses with the way he turned his life around.
“Today, 24 years ago, I put down alcohol and cocaine
and somehow, picked up a life.
Not a perfect life. Not always an easy one. But a real one.
And the beautiful privilege of being present for my own life. 24 years of waking up without wondering what I said, what I did, or who I offended the night before.
And today, as I celebrate, my heart is especially with those who are still struggling. To the person still caught in the chaos. To the one who keeps promising tomorrow will be different. To the one who is tired, ashamed, frightened, and wondering if they have gone too far.
You haven’t!!
Please know this: there is a life on the other side of addiction that you may not be able to imagine yet. I couldn’t see mine either. You are not your worst day. You are not the things addiction made you do.
There is no shame in needing help.
There is no failure in starting again.
And there is no expiration date on hope.
Someone, somewhere, is living a life today
they once thought was impossible. I am one of them.
I am deeply grateful for the people who walked beside me and the quiet miracles that happen one day at a time.
24 years sober.
Still learning. Still laughing. Still growing.
Still taking it one day at a time.
Here’s to another 24 years. 🥂
(Yes, that’s sparkling water.)
❤️👊🏿,” Kabelo said.
