“I’ve Spent 4 Years Trying to Clear My Name,” Lasizwe On the R2 Million Students Money Accusations

“I’ve Spent 4 Years Trying to Clear My Name,” Lasizwe On the R2 Million Students Money Accusations. He has always been the one to step up, when it comes to helping students in need. Lasizwe has paid for students registration fees, and raised tuition fees for those struggling.
In March 2021, Lasizwe joined forces with Sibu Mabena, Takkies and King Aya for the R10 Goes a Long Way Initiative. They aimed at raising R1 Million to pay registration fees for every university student that applied for funding. The dedicated team kicked off the campaign by depositing money out of their own pockets to motivate the public, to donate to the cause. Pretty soon, social media users and celebs jumped in to donate towards the initiative. Corporates also jumped on board to help. Pick n Pay donated R10,000, African Bank pledged R10,000, KFC R50,000, and Standard Bank added R1 million.
In no time, the team managed to raise a whopping R2 000 000.00! The money was given to students who couldn’t get registered in universities due to financial constraints. This was a great cause, but sadly, it was marred with negativity. Lasizwe was accused of taking the funds for himself, and not using it on students. His timeline was flooded with tweeps asking for proof that the money was used for what is was initially planned for.
Lasizwe has however, always maintained his innocence. He states that everything was transferred to the Fundi organization, who handled the proceedings. It seems like even to date, he still has to prove his innocence. Taking to X, he states that it’s all false and lies. Seeing people joke about it, makes Lasizwe relive the trauma he went through.
“4 years ago, I was dragged through the mud over claims that I stole R2 million yama Students, which was False and it’s Lies. Till this day, that accusation still haunts me. Im seeing people joking about it now, but you don’t understand the damage it caused. I’ve spent 4 years trying to clear my name from something I didn’t do,” he said.
