  1. Naledi Chirwa was born in Vosloorus and brought up in the dusty streets of Mamelodi under the care of her grandmother and mother.
  2. Driven by her love for black people, black women and for South Africa, she has a burning desire to see the wrongs of the past set right.
  3. Naledi was introduced to student politics in 2010 when she served as deputy president of the SRC at Tshwane North College.
  4. She is serving as the EFF Students’ Command media and communications officer at the university.
  5. The student activist has been instrumental in Fees Must Fall campaigns at the University of Pretoria where students have joined the nationwide campaign against increasing university fees.
  6. Naledi rose to prominence during the Fees Must Fall and Remember Khwezi movements that shook South Africa between 2015 and early 2017.
  7. “I’m putting forward the politics of young people in different lengths because I’m not just an observer of the fallists or of the feminists or of the gender activists, I am all those people,” Naledi.
  8. She is a qualified theatre practitioner who obtained her BA Drama degree at the acclaimed University of Pretoria.
  9. In 2017 Naledi was among the 200 Mail & Guardian Young South Africans.
  10. Chirwa is a mother of one.
