Londeka Sishi Explains Why She Missed the SAFTAs19 Event Where She Was One of the Winners. The 19th Annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) took place on 13 and 14 March 2026 at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg. Many celebrities graced the events, more so those who got award nominations.

Like it normally happens in award ceremonies, there are some winners who did not pitch. Their awards were either accepted by the production team, their fellow cast members or families. Londeka Sishi is among the winners who did not attend the event. The award winning actress however, went on to bag the Best Actress in a TV Soapie, for her role in ‘Scandal!’. She has now taken it upon herself to explain why she missed the SAFTAs. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Londeka apologized, citing that she was hospitalized during the time.

It’s been just over a week since my SAFTA win and I’m still shook! Firstly I want to sincerely apologise for not making the awards, I had to be rushed to Hospital on Saturday and was only discharged on Tuesday (story for another day) but God is good, recovering well and getting stronger by the day❤️,” she explained.

The win is a big one for Londeka, as she look back at what she has been through. She explained that the nomination alone got her excited, and the win was an affirmation she had no idea she needed. This for her was a reminder of just how infinite God is when it comes to the details of our lives. Londeka then expressed gratitude to everyone who has had an impact in her life, including the Scandal! family.

Guys? Thank you🥹 honestly from the deepest parts of me, thank you for seeing me, thank you for helping me bet on me, thank you for loving me. @keneilwematidze, I’ll forever be grateful to you. Thank you for being the vessel that God used to change the trajectory of my life. It was your belief in me(that I still tremble at the thought of) that has led me here. Thank you.”
