Bonang Matheba Reacts to Reports That Revlon Is Preparing to File for Bankruptcy. Cosmetics giant Revlon is reportedly preparing to file for bankruptcy. Reports state the brand is set to file for chapter 11 bankruptcy due to a long decline in sales, unfulfilled supply chain demands, among other factors.

Revlon also houses brands including Almay, Elizabeth Arden New York, Mitchum, and CND, to name a few. These are brands that are used by so many consumers here in South Africa, and obviously they will be affected, should they stop. The bankruptcy of Revlon will also affect beauty businesses in South Africa.

Over the years, we have seen a couple of our celebrities work with the brand as ambassadors. In March 2018, Revlon unveiled new faces form our South African personalities as their new brand ambassadors. The four are Loot Love, Bontle Modiselle, Kim Jayde Robinson, and Michelle Mosalakae who represented women inΒ  different skin tones, shapes and forms.

The four took over from Bonang Matheba, who was announced as the face of Revlon South Africa in 2013. Three years later in 2016, the multi-award winning media personality and entrepreneur became the global ambassador of Revlon. This saw Bonang appearing on international campaigns for the beauty brand, becoming the first South African to do so.

Now that there are reports of bankruptcy, Bonang is not happy that her much loved beauty brand might be going through the most. She took to Twitter, where she stated that she was weeping over the news.
