Karabo Mokoena’s Friend Stephanie Leong Receives Scary Threats
Karabo Mokoena’s Friend Stephanie Leong Receives Scary Threats. Ever since her friend went missing a year ago, Stephanie has maintained close contact with the Mokoena family. She was one of the first to tweet Mokoena’s picture when she went missing. Leong supported the family when Karabo was found dead, and was there throughout the trial. Now her presence might have rubbed off some people the wrong way to the extend of she and her family receiving threats.
I've been receiving threats and threats have been sent to my mom telling her to 'warn me' because of the outcome of Karabo's murder case. I feel unsafe and I want everyone to know that my life could be at risk.

Karabo became a symbol of the scourge of gender-based violence in South Africa when she was murdered last year, by her boyfriend, Sandile Mantsoe. Together with Karabo’s sister Bontle, Stephanie and Michelle Daka decided to keep Karabo’s dream of opening a foundation for abused women alive, and launched the Karabo Mokoena Foundation late last year.
