Applications Open for the SAMSA Work Integrated Learning Programme: Small Vessel Regime. The Department of Transport (DoT), in partnership with the South African Maritime Safety Authority(SAMSA), invites applications from suitably qualified unemployed seafarers to participate in a 24 month Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme under the Small Vessel Regime.
Programme Duration
- 24 Months (Fixed Term Contract / Training Programme)
Key Performance Areas
Successful Candidates Will Be Required To
- Assist with the inspection and surveying of small vessels
- Participate in scheduled training and skills development activities
- Support compliance monitoring in line with maritime safety standards
- Participate in maritime safety awareness and outreach initiatives
- Compile and submit basic inspection and compliance reports
- Support operational duties under the guidance of a Mentor / Surveyor
Placement Locations
Successful applicants will be placed at one of the following locations:
- Richards Bay
- Durban
- East London
- Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth)
- Mossel Bay
Stipend
- Participants will receive a monthly stipend of R10 000 for the duration of the programme.
