Thami Mngqolo Celebrates His Daughter Officially Becoming A Teenager

Thami Mngqolo Celebrates His Daughter Officially Becoming A Teenager. Many fathers get so scared as their daughters grow to become young ladies. For Thami Mngqolo, though things are quite different. Seeing his baby girl becoming a teenager, is one of his proud moments in life.
13 years ago, Thami became a first time father, with the birth of his daughter, Uvolwethu. He shares her with his ex wife Jo-Anne Reyneke. Although the two are no longer together, they are doing amazing as co-parents.
As Uvo turns 13 today, her dad took to Instagram to pour his heart out. The talented actor has shared just how mush his daughter has impacted his life. This started from the day she was born to date.
“Uvolwethu,
Your name carries a weight and a beauty that has guided my heart since the moment you were born.
It translates to “Our Voice”(Our Opinion/Our Feeling) —and there is no word more accurate to describe what you brought into this world. You were the physical manifestation of a love that was already there, the tangible heartbeat of our unions joy. To name you “Uvolwethu” was to acknowledge that you weren’t just a person, but an entire atmosphere of hope and new beginnings that changed our lives forever.
Being my firstborn, you were my first teacher in a way you may not yet realize. You were the one who taught me what it meant to love someone more than myself, and the one who showed me the true meaning of responsibility and purpose. You have been the North Star of my journey. Through every season of my life, your presence has been a grounding force, a reminder of why I work so hard and why I strive to be a better person every day. You aren’t just my daughter; you are the spark that started it all.
You came into this world not by accident, not by chance, but as something entrusted, something shared, something deeply meaningful. From the moment you arrived, you were never just a child I had… you were a gift I was given.
You gave my life a new kind of purpose. You grounded me. You stretched me. You made me look at the world differently — not just as a man moving through it, but as a father shaping it for someone he loves more than he can ever fully explain,” Thami said.
He also went on to share words of wisdom with Uvo as she officially becomes a teen. Thami encourages his daughter to continue being who she has been.
“Thirteen is not just another birthday. It is a crossing. It can be a whirlwind of change, but I want you to remember that the foundation you’ve built over these last twelve years is solid. You are kind, you are capable, and you carry a name that reminds us all that feelings—empathy, love, and intuition—are where our true strength lies.
A quiet but powerful shift from childhood into young womanhood. It’s where your voice begins to carry more weight, your thoughts deepen, and your identity starts to take clearer shape. You will begin to see the world — and yourself — in new ways. And with that comes both beauty and challenge.
Happy birthday Mafungwashe ❤️,” he added.
