Dr Jerry Mofokeng Appreciates Being Honored Big By the National Film & TV Awards. This past weekend, a number of award ceremonies took place. One of them was the National Film & TV Awards, which returned for the 3rd time on Saturday.
The 3rd annual NFTA South Africa took place on 22 November 2025 at the State Theatre, Pretoria, celebrating the best in film and television. Among those who got awards is Dr Jerry Mofokeng. The legendary actor and author was surprised with a trophy of ‘Honour’ at the event. His family was among the audience as he got honored. This came at the right time, since Dr Mofokeng is about to celebrate a milestone age of 70. He is grateful for getting his flowers while he can still smell them.
“I’ve had moments where artists and members of the public have pulled me aside for an opportunity of gratitude and honour. I’d like to express gratitude and sincere appreciation for these gestures.
On Saturday evening I received a trophy of ‘Honour’ from the NFTA. A big surprise but a timely gesture just before my 70th birthday. We the so-called legends honestly appreciate getting our flowers in our lifetime. We won’t be there for the memorials and the post-humus accolades.
Thank you NFTA,” he said in appreciation.
It is always heartwarming to see legends get the recognition they deserve. A year ago, Dr Mofokeng was once again honored at major awards. He received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Royalty Soapie Awards 2024. Dr Mofokeng took to Instagram to appreciate the honor, and also celebrated other award recipients.
A few months before that, he and Nambitha Ben Mazwi received their flowers at the Don Julio Oscar’s Viewing Party. Don Julio 1942 honored them for their unwavering dedication, artistic brilliance, and profound impact on the cultural landscape of South Africa.
