“We Still Don’t Know How to Celebrate Each Other,” Black Coffee As He Receives Billboard African Power Player of the Year Award. Congratulations are in order for Black Coffee, who is shinning with yet another major award. He has just bagged himself the Billboard African Power Player of the Year recognition.
Upon receiving the award, Black Coffee gave quite a moving speech. The multi-award winning artist and entrepreneur started off by pointing out that he started doing music back in 1996. He has almost three decades in the industry, and is still making waves to date. Coffee also pointed out that Africans find it hard to support their own. He said, the higher a person succeeds, their own people wants to drag them now.
“The biggest challenge for me as an African was African people. We haven’t fully learned how to fully embrace each other.We still don’t know how to celebrate each other, be there for each other. We still struggle so much, which is watching someone grow and succeed, ” Black Coffee said.
He also encouraged young people to pursue their dreams regardless of what those around them say. Coffee also urged parents to support their kids when they dream big.
Coffee went on to dedicate the award to his children, who he isn’t always with them due to work. He also dedicated it to his girlfriend Victoria Gonzalez.
