Now she has bagged a new role, that gives her the opportunity to play one of South Africa’s greatest icons. Brenda has been cast to play Brenda Fassie, in the upcoming Vulindlela documentary series. Vulindlela takes us into Brenda’s extraordinary rise from obscurity to South African music royalty. After hitting rock bottom, Brenda was written off by the industry. She defied expectations and reinvented herself through the iconic album Vulindlela. Many are happy with the casting, which is all about talent, playing another talent.

Vulindlela premieres Saturday, 15 November 2025 at 8PM on SABC1.
