Mia Le Roux Clocks 1st Crowniversary As Miss South Africa. Indeed time flies when one is having fun. It’s hard to believe that we have had Mia Le Roux as our Miss South Africa, for a whole year. The beauty queen and model was crowned at the spectacular 66th pageant finale held at the SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria on the 10th of August 2024.
Mia made history as the first woman with impaired hearing to be crowned Miss South Africa. She has made it her mission to spread awareness and educate the masses about the challenges faced by the deaf. Mia got her cochlear implant at two years of age, thanks to the help of her community. One of her missions is to eventually help provide cochlear implants to those who cannot afford it and give them the same gift her community has given her.
During her year of reign, Mia has done a lot for the deaf community. She started the Mia le Roux Movement, which advocates for the estimated four million deaf individuals in this country. The platform also raising awareness of all forms of exclusion. From raising funds for life-changing cochlear implants to encouraging the use of closed captions on national broadcasts, Mia’s mission is to break barriers for all who are excluded. Mia has already secured partnerships with both the Dis-Chem Foundation and the B4i Academy.
Mia is also doing amazing things giving back to the community. On Mandela Day, he had the privilege of donating toys at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital. We can’t wait to see what she continues to do, as she carries the Miss SA crown with pride.
