Camilla Waldman All Nostalgic As She Remembers Her Iconic Generations Character Anne de Villiers

Camilla Waldman All Nostalgic As She Remembers Her Iconic Generations Character Anne de Villiers. Many know the seasoned theatre performer, as Anne De Villiers. This is a role that Camilla Waldman played on Generations from March 2004 to June 2008.

Although Camilla has been on other TV shows such as Isidingo and Legacy, she made an impact as Anne De Villiers. It has been 17 years, since the character was killed, but still those who watched Generations back then, can’t forget it. For those who forgot Anne, Camilla recently took us down memory line, showing just how special the character was to her.

It was close on 17 years ago now that the Generations character of Anne de Villiers was shot by the character of Busi, played by Leleti Khumalo. I cried that day, taking off Anne’s hair and make-up and saying goodbye a community of actors and crew at Generations who had supported and taught me so much in my time there.
I didn’t realise then how many times I would still answer to the name Anne; I still sometimes do, so many years later.
Director and filmmaker, Nqanawe Shangase, asked for Anne de Villiers to be reading in a bookstore in one of his frames, in his short film, Ubani Lore.
And here she will stay, in an armchair, looking through the pages of her Generations book.
What a story.
Thank-you NQ for giving her a comfortable place to live.
Amongst the many thank-you’s I have in my heart, I thank God for suggesting I could be an actor.
For the character of Anne de Villiers and all I learnt in her boots, for the stories of Generations and South Africa, for fellow actors, for Sonto Nhlapo who created Anne’s make-up and remains a beautiful friend to me. A grand thank-you to Mike and Liz Hairpieces for their brilliant wigs and service – and thank-you, to Sechaba Ramphele, for being the actor he is and encouraging Anne back
