Several Gqeberha: The Empire Cast Members Bag Roles In A New Drama

Several Gqeberha: The Empire Cast Members Bag Roles In A New Drama. This is true to the saying, when one door close, others open. Just three weeks ago, Gqeberha: The Empire aired its final episode. It was a sad day for the fans, actors and cast members.

Today, a number of the telenovela’s key cast members have bagged themselves roles in a new show. The likes of Anele Matoti, Ayanda Makhayi, Zandile Msutwana, Kay Bikitsha and Bongile Mantsai are back in action. They are part of Family and Rugby, an upcoming drama series that will air on eVOD. The powerful drama explores the complex life of a young rugby star caught between the allure of the sport and the harsh realities of his township.

Seventeen-year-old Dumisani (Buntu Zatu) is a rising rugby prodigy with dreams of a brighter future. His close bond with his older brother Yongi (Makayi), a skilled getaway driver, is tragically severed when Yongi sacrifices himself to save their mother, Lulekwa (Msutwana), during a botched robbery.

Consumed by grief and pressured by Yongi’s gang, Dumisani is drawn into the criminal underworld, putting his relationship with his girlfriend Babalwa (Bikitsha) and his dreams of rugby stardom at risk. His father, Wawa (Matoti), a “has-been” rugby player, adds another layer of complexity to Dumisani’s life. Mantsai is cast as Jacob.

As Dumisani navigates dangerous choices and high-stakes heists, he must fight to protect his loved ones and hold onto his dreams. Will he be able to escape the grip of the streets and achieve his goals on the rugby field?

Family and Rugby starts streaming on February 27th.
