“I Made An Honest Mistake,” Shahan Ramkissoon On the Kelly/Winnie Khumalo Name Error. When it comes to live TV, mistakes are bound to happen. Even for the most professional and experienced, some errors seem inevitable
Shahan Ramkissoon, a renowned broadcaster recently made a mistake, that now has social media buzzing. The eNCA news anchor and TV presenter announced that Kelly Khumalo passed away, when in actual fact, its Winnie Khumalo who died. As soon as he realized his error, Shahan quickly apologized and rectified the mistake.
Despite the fact that Shahan corrected himself, the clip of him announcing Kelly dead immediately trended on social media platforms with all sorts of reactions. To many people, its a joke, but to Kelly, it’s a serious matter. Upon coming across the clip, the award winning musician and actress did not take kindly to the error. She took to Instagram saying eNCA was reckless, ignorant and disrespectful to her and her loved ones.
Shahan has thus taken to social media to let people know that he made an honest mistake. He also emphasizes that he corrected it immediately. Shahan however doesn’t have time for those now using the clip for attention.
“I made an honest mistake, which I corrected shortly afterwards on air. It was a slip of the tongue as I ad-libbed the story. I take full responsibility for the error. To those seeking to amplify this for attention: do what you must trend and stay blessed.🙏,” he said.
