Alexander Forbes: Internship / Learnership Programme 2014 / 2015
The following learnership programmes are on offer and applicants are to choose a programme in line with their study field or future career aspirations. Learners will attend classes internally towards completing one of the following qualifications and also assume normal duties (hands-on experience) to complement their studies. The programmes extend over a period of 12 months, except for the accounting programme which extends over 18 months.
1. Medical Claims assessing Level 4 2. Sales and Marketing Level 4 3. Short Term Insurance Level 4 4. (IT), Microsoft Certified Systems Developer Level 5 5. Certified Accounting Technician Level 5 6. Wealth Management Level 5 7. National Certificate in Financial Planning Level 6
Internship
The programme is designed for unemployed graduates whose studies are firmly in line with the insurance sector and are deemed to possess the required competencies to thrive in the workplace without exposure to additional insurance industry related qualification(s). The programme extends over a period of 1 year. Interns will only receive in-house unaccredited training and mentoring to help socialise them into their roles and the workings of a corporate environment. Candidates in possession of the following qualifications will receive preference:-
1. Law (candidates will be based in our Cape Town office) 2. HR / Psychology (1 candidate will be based in Cape Town and 2 candidates will be Johannesburg based – Sandton offices) 3. IT (All candidates will be based at the Sandton offices) 4. Business Administration 5. Financial Planning 6. Accounting 7. Finance 8. Mathematics 9. Economics 10. Investment Management
Graduate Development programme
This is a 2 year, highly competitive programme with an entry level of a honours degree in Actuarial Sciences, Investments, Financial Planning, Law, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics and Economics. Graduates will have an option to rotate to other departments in line with their career aspirations and fields of study. This is aimed at helping the graduate to have a better understanding of the business and to explore areas of specialisation before assuming a permanent non-rotational role.
